Are you looking for a way to give back this year? Maybe you don’t have the time to volunteer or maybe you do not have the additional room in your budget to make monetary donations. That’s okay. There are still a variety of ways that you can give back. Included below are a few ideas that you can consider to make your local community a better place.
Organize a park clean-up
Find a local park that needs some life and organize a clean-up day in your community. Oftentimes, if you reach out to your local city officials, they will support your efforts and point you in the right direction to get something put together. If you don’t have the time to organize a park clean-up in your area, recruit a few people, bring bags and gloves, involve your kids and create your own park clean-up.
Advocate for positive changes
Look around to discover what the needs are in your community and get busy. Write to your city officials, advocate, and provide solutions to make positive improvements.
Look for ways to make your community more inclusive
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion have been hot topics over the last few years. DEI is a large goal for many cities too. Look around your community and ensure those with disabilities would be able to access places. What is the culture like? Could people of all backgrounds feel comfortable? Find the loopholes and help communities make positive improvements in DEI.
Connect with local nonprofits and join their efforts
Nonprofits have taken big hits during the Covid-era. They still need help, funding, and others who are passionate about their causes. Find a nonprofit that interests you and get involved. Even just 1-2 hours a week of your time can help them tremendously.
Give
Giving can take many forms to accommodate what works best for you. It can be time, monetary donations, or even material items that are being collected for a cause. The point is, giving should always come straight from the heart.
Giving back to your community is easy. It doesn’t have to be time-consuming or cost a lot of money. All you need to do is find the method that will work for you best. Giving back and being vested in your local community is the way to make positive changes and improve the quality of life for everyone.
