Turning on the news can be dreadful and amplify anxiety and worry. In a world full of uncertain times and unrest, the best thing to do is give those worries to God. Instead of wallowing in those fears and anxieties, focus your heart and mind on biblical words for comfort.

Here are seven scriptures from the Bible to help you through worrisome times.

Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (NIV).

Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (NIV).

Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (KJV).

Psalm 94:19

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy” (NIV).

John 14:1

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me” (KJV).

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (NIV).

1 Peter 5:6-7

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (NIV).

In almost every one of these scriptures, there are two constant themes; put your trust in God and he will not leave you. What can that tell us about handling fear, worries, and anxiety? If we give those things burdening our hearts to God, he will bring peace, comfort, and strength to our situation.
