Synopsis
Who is Sam the Soldier?is a beautifully illustrated children’s book that strives to teach others all about the life of a soldier. It includes a view into what a day is like for a soldier, Army culture, and concepts that are prevalent in the military world.
Strengths
There are many strengths in this adorable children’s book. First, the storyline is easy to follow and teaches about many concepts that are part of military and Army culture. Next, the illustrations are colorful and perfectly depict Army life in a vivid way. Lastly, this book does not just cater to the military community but to anyone young and old who desires to learn key concepts that make up the life of a service member in the Army.

My Final Thoughts
I absolutely adored this book. What makes it different from other military themed children’s books is that it does not assume the reader knows and understands military culture. It aims to teach about those concepts such as; jobs available in the Army, diversity in the military, uniform meanings, and what a day in the life of a soldier is like. It allows children to learn more about military culture and norms in an animated and colorful way. I highly recommend this book for those affiliated with the military and for those who wish to learn more. This would be a wonderful class read to learn about military culture prior to Veterans Day or any holiday that supports the United States Military, service members, and veterans.
